If you've known me for any stretch of my life, you'll know that I am not a huge fan of dogs. When I was young, I was terrified of them. Actually I still am if they chase me. If I'm out running and there's a dog loose, I'll make sure to be on the other side of the street. The "fenceless" dog boundaries here (underground shocking fences) gave me slight panic attacks when I first moved here to see big huge dogs roaming around in a yard where they could chase after me at any moment. However, I have overcome my hate of dogs but that hate has never seemed to turn to love.Last night I was visiting one of the ladies in my church and she has an over active dog that she has always put in a kennel when I am over there. Yesterday I found out why. She had the dog in the kitchen with the boundary fences up (like the kid fences for stairs) so the dog couldn't get out into the living room. Once the dog saw me, she was so excited that she kept barking and slamming against the fence, trying to jump over it. Unfortunately for me, she eventually made it over and tore into the living room, not just to lick my toes or something else gross that dogs do but she jumped and literally slammed into me sitting on the couch, not once, but multiple times. And then, in her excitement, she proceeded to pee on the couch I was sitting on.... luckily not on me. My hostess finally collared the dog and put her in a kennel and we proceeded with our discussion but the whole experience clearly reminded me why I never want a dog.
