I think some of the drama is settling down (finally) and this weekend should be fantastic, including canoeing through rainstorms. We'll be out on Brule Lake (I'm being good and letting people know where I'll be) for the weekend and a few of us will be doing day trip portages to other lakes. So, not that you'd all rush out here to the northern wilderness in Minnesota, but you know where to come find my body if I'm not back at work Monday morning. (Mom- in case you are reading this, I'm just kidding! We'll be fine.) Here are some great points about the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, just in case you don't know anything about it like I did when I first moved here...
NO motorized vehicles - including motorized boats - for hundreds of miles (well if you canoe or hike in that far)
- LIMITED people - they only grant a limited number of permits per day per entry point. If you don't get one, tough luck, and try again.
- WILDLIFE galore - Bears, moose, deer, birds, fish, birds, and especially our trusty ever-present mosquito (never fear, I have bug spray with 98.1% DEET. I think it may just melt my skin off when I spray it on)
- SCENERY, SCENERY, SCENERY - Enough said.

All we have to do is outrun or push someone over when the bear comes into camp to eat one of us : )
I think he's coming after you first with your spring fresh deodorant. Good thing you are in such good shape. You can outrun pretty much everyone else. I'll just draft off of you :)
