Inspiration
Apparently, some events over the last few months have inspired someone I know to come up with rather creative dating strategies. The first was dubbed as the Rent-to-Own model and the second is the H&R Block strategy (ie - you could do it yourself but why not let a professional do it - aka arranged marriage). Last night one of my good friends and I were talking about a relationship she had last year that keeps me shaking my head every time I hear it. And then I remember.... wait... I've had that happen to me too! I call her (and my) experience the Jax model. I won't go into the finer points of these strategies since I don't want to give any guy or girl any reason to think these strategies are ok... because they aren't. Not that I've been around that long, even though it feels like I've been dating forever, but what happened to normal dating where you found someone you were interested in, actually gave the relationship a chance, and if it was working, great keep working on it, and if it just wasn't working out you were honest with the person about why it wasn't working? I'm not saying be rude or mean about it, but tactful honesty works out better in the end. I guess since I'm not willing to ascribe to these afore-mentioned models, I'm back to classic dating... a little like classic skating but hopefully with fewer articles of clothing from the 70's.
