How better to celebrate someone's birthday than some classic 50's-style bowling? This was a little hole in the wall place in Uptown that apparently has been featured on Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins. There is a little restaurant up front and then a small bowling alley in the back that obviously hasn't been updated since it was built. No automatic scoring available... we had to do it the old-school (aka pencil & paper) method so it was a good thing one of the guys knew how to keep manual score. As usual, I was genius in scoring at least above 60. I never claimed to be a great bowler! But, we had sooo much fun! I wish I had taken

a picture of the guy in the restaurant next to us that was wearing a kilt, filthy t-shirt, and had his mangy beard twirled in two long, scraggly beard twists - Only in Uptown would you find a guy walking around like that and feeling comfortable :)

I love this photo of you! I've really enjoyed the last posts of your trip to Europe. It's great to live vicariously, isn't it? Glad to see you looking so healthy and happy.
It sounds like a fun night. Did you take bowling in High School?
They didn't have a bowling class when I was in HS. Central must have cut that out between when you were there and I was there.
