France - Take 2 - Versailles

Versailles - Palace of the Kings, or at least some of them. But, there were 16 Louis. How am I supposed to remember who was who? I know. Ignorant American. I'm working on it. I'm actually encouraged to read more about European history, not a subject I've been dying to read. Like I said, I'm working on being a better educated adult. In any case, Versailles was the seat of power for around 100 years after moving it out of Paris. Of note, Louis XIV and Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette lived here.

So, really on to our trip. We spent the morning till probably mid-afternoon here at Versailles wandering around the buildings and grounds. It was well worth the train trip out of Paris to go. If you go, get the head set to narrate the rooms. It is worth the Euros. The buildings were amazing and the grounds spectacular. They just kept going... and going... and going... The decorations inside were all a tribute to French aristocracy egotism.
