4th of July - Take 2

In an effort to get through all the posts I'm so backlogged on, I'm giving you fair warning that you'll be getting more pictures than commentary (unless the commentary is duly warranted). I chalk that up to being a sub-par blogger. I'm ok with that. Only because I'm awesome in so many other areas. Just kidding!

So, with no further ado - here's the second part of the 2010 4th of July trip. If you remember from the previous post, we were in Canada at some place called Kakabeka Falls.

I was expecting the falls to be a little bigger since online they were described as a smaller version of Niagara Falls. Smaller was right. A lot smaller.
A view down river from the falls.
The top of the falls.
We went on a little hike to a some falls called Small Falls or something really inventive like that.
On the way back, Claire got stuck in the swampy mud while we were being swarmed by mosquitoes.
Carrie demonstrates how we typically eat on one of our camping trips - some bread or bagels, peanut butter, and squeezable jelly. The guy in the site next door was laughing at our cuisine while he was cooking up a storm.
And you thought Canada was safe at night...
Yay! Back in Minnesota. It was quite the ordeal trying to get back across the border. Carrie was sweating bullets with the Border Guard and when asked where we came from, she looked at him and replied "Canada". Are you sure? We may have come from Mexico and just ended up at the Canadian/US border by mistake. Then Claire had a sealed box in the back with a sleeping bag she wanted to mail to her sister. Her inclination though was to tell him when questioned that it was full of explosives. That would have been great. I would have been blogging this all from a jail cell in Thunder Bay.
4th of July stop for the night: Cascade falls. Apparently there isn't a lack of waterfalls in the area.
Hiking in our skirts - or in this case relaxing with our packs on the hike.
The view from the hike with Lake Superior on the right.

Our last stop for the night. We hiked down from our look out spot to the shores of Lake Superior.

Coming hopefully sometime soon - the final installment of 4th of July.
