While living in Minnesota, how could I skip going to the Little House on the Prairie? And, not just the sites, but they have a full-fledged pageant! How could three girls that grew up in the era of not only reading the books but also the TV show, pass up going to the pageant this year? We couldn't. Plus, the TV show was supposed to have been "set" in Walnut Grove, the site of the pageant. Luckily, Carrie and Claire remember more of the books than I do.
Of course we decided to go camping. I wouldn't have expected anything less. Lucky for us, we got into the campsite really late and about 15 min before a BIG storm came in. But, long enough for us to pitch tents. After withstanding 60-70mph winds, pounding rain, thunder and lightening - all in a little dome tent - Carrie holding up the tent with her legs and me holding down the tent - huddled together in a few inches of water in the bottom of the tent with our gear piled on top of us to try to keep it semi dry - just waiting for the storm to subside at least a little - we finally had a break in the rain enough to do the fastest breakdown of a tent ever - less than 30 seconds - enough to flatten it, pull it under the car, and jump in the car to pull off our wet clothes, put on dry clothes, and try and sleep in the car. The tent next door was flattened by the wind and all their gear ended up in the lake we were next to. I think you'd have to go through a situation like that to understand it. Luckily, we just laughed through the whole thing.
