Here's a little more info on my new state - MINNESOTA! (but... Oregon will always be home) The list ranges from the common to the random. Who spends their time in the legislature passing bills on state muffins? You Minnesotans out there, can you pass the test without looking?
Bird: Loon (I still think it looks like a duck)
Fish: Walleye
Butterfly: Monarch
Drink: Milk - he was right!
Flower: Pink and White Lady Slipper
Fruit: Honeycrisp (apple)
Gemstone: Lake Superior Aggate
Grain: Wild Rice
Motto: L’etoile du Nord (translation: “Star of the North”)
Muffin: Blueberry
Mushroom: Morel
Song: Hail Minnesota
Tree: Red or Norway Pine
Photograph: Grace (In 1918, “Grace” was photographed by Eric Enstrom in the town of Bovey, Minnesota)

Personal note: I love this photograph! This was one of my Grandma Hart's favorites. Several years before she passed away, she had a picture taken sitting in the same pose with a bible, loaf of bread, and bowl of soup. Every time I see this picture, it always reminds me of Grandma.
