Over Labor Day I took a few days off and headed home to my family and the beloved Pacific Northwest. It's always an adventure going home. Since Joe was flying in from Europe that weekend too, we decided to attempt a family outing to Mt. St. Helens. I remember the ash falling on the ground after the eruption. Joe thinks that his birth was so amazing that the volcano HAD to erupt a few days later. So, even though we lived a few hours away, we never ventured up to the mountain. 30+ years after the eruption, we finally made the pilgrimage. From a distance it was disappointing. Up close, it was amazing.

The eruption was so violent that 30 years later, this is what the landscape still looks like.

Ummm... and this is what my family does when we all get together. It is never a question of IF we will go shoot guns but when we'll go down the road. This was an exceptional day because I don't think we have ever had 6 guns going at once.

Lunch at the Santiam Market. This is THE place to go when visiting the Spa Factory.
