Tampa... Take 2

Short follow-up on Tampa…

It is a good thing I didn’t have my heart set on moving to Tampa or the job either. Actually, it is delightful that I wasn’t actually really pursuing the job anyway because after yesterday I found that it definitely wasn’t a good match… for me or the company in that position. The company I’m sure is great. Actually, one of the best CEO’s I’ve ever worked for now heads up the division of the company I would have reported through had I gone any further with the job.

Maybe I was well schooled in interviewing while getting my MBA, but maybe everyone needs that. Guy and Jim taught us well… not everyone is so fortunate. I hated sitting through all your (Guy & Jim’s) interview classes (aka Career Development) while in school and especially doing the mock interviewing, but now I see you were wise, wise, wise. Everyone should learn the basic concepts of both being an interviewer and being an interviewee.

The lady who interviewed me was pleasant but the call, on my cell, while I was at work… which would have been fine… was completely unexpected. No one bothered to actually tell me that someone would be calling me for the interview. I think that just started off everything on not so great a note. But we ended fine and all is well that ends well. I still love everyone, I’m not heart broken over the job (especially after I wrestled out of her what it actually would entail because I think I would not have liked it), and I’m still happily employed with my current employer. And… as a side note… I love working for my current boss and my VP, so that makes up for some of the everyday “stuff” we all end up dealing with.
