I have been labeled with many attributes over the course my life but on a recent trip back to Phoenix I kept hearing various forms of....
Bargain Shopper
Thrifty
cost conscious
Saver
Stingy
Which may all pretty much be true. I love finding a good deal on something and hate buying things for full price. I know, dumb, but true. And its not just stuff... it is anything. I'd rather walk a few blocks rather than pay for parking in a lot, I shop around to find travel deals (I almost died when I found out a friend just paid $1300 for her plane ticket to the UK!), I would rather walk 200 yards to the office to pay my rent rather than pay a ridiculous $2.95 online convenience fee, and I even negotiated $200 off each month of my rent for the full lease term. The funny thing is, money doesn't really mean that much to me. Don't get me wrong, I like having it around and being able to do what I want with it, but I'm not thrifty because I solely want more money, I'm thrifty because I like to save and get a good deal.
So, long story even longer, I am going to add a Penny-Pinching Pointer column on the sideline and provide (hopefully I will be diligent enough to get on everyday) a tip of the day.
Cheers to all bargain shoppers!
