Running Short

12 days to go till my first 1/2 marathon of the year and I don't feel nearly close to ready. Not that I ever feel REALLY ready for a race. Let's face it, I'm not a runner. If you are a family member, you know, we aren't built as runners. I've been hopping on the treadmill for months and granted it is easier now to run than it probably was when I started, but I still get really tired. I hate running on treadmills and prefer outside but I don't have much of an option as I prefer to keep my fingers and toes frostbite free. As for this race, I'm sure it doesn't help matters at all that 9 of those 12 days I'll be traveling to Europe so I won't get to run much before the race. The longest run I got in this training was only 6 miles.

So, 3 miles... 6 miles... it doesn't matter how far I run, it never feels like it is enough. Maybe if I had more dedication, control, desire... something... I would actually stay on the treadmill longer. Maybe after I die on this race, I'll train better for the 1/2 marathon in October. I've been recruiting people here to run so I know that I'll actually do it. Well, I'm sure I will do it since I need one more race to finish my physical goal for the year.
